Florida Day Trips for Airplane Owners

Florida Day Trips for Airplane Owners

One reason to own your own airplane is the opportunity to add some fun to your everyday life. Although it can be a lot of fun to fly just for the sake of flying, there's something even better about having a destination in mind when you fuel up take to the sky. Aircraft ownership gives you an opportunity to take advantage of that independence.

If you decide to take a weekend or one-day trip, there are some preparations you'll need to make first. Find out what airports you'll be near and find out the services and fees associated with each in case you need to land there for unexpected reasons. You can also find videos that will show you what it is like to land at many airports. This allows you to be as confident as possible if you need to land there.

It is not uncommon for pilots to fly to a community, eat a meal at the airport diner, and go home just to say they've been there. However, you may want to take advantage of our beautiful and diverse state. Here are three options for fun and memorable places to fly to for a day of fun, or a weekend of memory making.

Orlando, Florida

Orlando is a city that offers a variety of entertainment for children and adults alike. What may surprise some people is how often Floridians don't go to Walt Disney World, or Discovery Cove, or to see an NBA ball game even though those activities are right in our own backyard. Sometimes we take the interesting and fun things to do that are close by for granted. We think "they'll always be there" and "we'll get around to it". Why not do that today and fly to Orlando?

Sanibel Island, Florida

If something quiet and not "touristy" is to your taste, Sanibel Island might be for you. If you think of the Gulf Coast tourist hot spots when you think about Florida beaches, Sanibel Island will not fit the bill. If you're looking for a place to spend some quiet time with someone important, Sanibel Island might be for you.

Key West, Florida

Another place that some Floridians often put off visiting is Key West. Key West is known for flamboyancy of its population and warm beaches open to everyone. One of America's greatest native authors lived in Key West, Ernest Hemingway, and you can tour his home, visit some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, or just party. Come and see how Key West has bounced back after Hurricane Irma in 2017, and enjoy some great times.

There are a lot of great destinations both inside and outside of Florida for daytrips for pilots. Take advantage of the independence that small aircraft ownership provides and visit some of these places. If you need help financing a new plane or updating one, contact us at We fly.
