We Florida Financial Celebrates Earth Month With Shred-a-Tree/Plant-a-Tree Events Benefiting One Tree Planted

Events welcome members and locals to join in efforts to support the communityand the environment

MARGATE, FL (April 21, 2022) – We Florida Financial, a cooperatively owned, not-for-profit credit union, is proudly celebrating Earth Month by hosting two Shred-a-Tree/Plant-a-Tree events benefiting One Tree Planted, and partaking in the beach cleanup efforts for The 5th Annual SOS Ocean Conservation Day.

Members and locals are welcome to bring their sensitive documents to be securely shredded and disposed of by a professional shredding company. Upon completion of the shred events, a total weight of the documents shredded will be tallied. We Florida Financial will donate one dollar for every two pounds of shredded paper to One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization focused on global reforestation, which plants one tree for every dollar donated.

Upon arrival, guests can look for the ‘We Florida Financial’ tent and a team of dedicated staff will assist in securely shredding documents. The event is located at Las Olas Oceanside Park – 3000 East Las Olas Blvd. on Fort Lauderdale Beach. This event benefits the Stoked on Salt aka SOS, a non-profit organization working towards a clean ocean planet.

We Florida Financial Announces William Spearman As New Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer

Bringing more than 30 years of industry experience to elevate service to members by providing leadership, overall direction and administration within the organization

MARGATE, FL (March 14, 2022) – We Florida Financial, a cooperatively owned, not-for-profit credit union, announces the hiring of William ‘Bill’ Spearman as the new Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer.

“We’re grateful to welcome Bill to our team,” said Rachel Schaming, Chief Human Resources Officer for We Florida Financial. “As our mission to serve our community in a more robust manner continues to evolve, so must our team of dedicated professionals to bring that vision to life. And Bill is an incredible asset in this journey.”

Spearman brings more than 30 years of experience to We Florida Financial where he’ll oversee loan operations, execute board-approved decisions, support loan and member growth, serve as a representative on key industry committees, manage budgetary goals and support the company-to-member relationships.

Prior to joining We Florida Financial, Spearman most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Lending at UNCLE Credit Union (2020-2022), was the Founder and Principal Consultant of Next Level Strategies (2015-2020), and lead as the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer at Santa Cruz Community Credit Union (2012-2015) to name a few. Having started his career at Bank of America in 1987 and navigating various positions within the corporate structure – from Chief of Staff to the Regional President to SVP of Commercial Real Estate Banking – Spearman garnered an insurmountable knowledge of the internal workings of the industry, ultimately driving enhanced consumer, commercial and corporate lending efforts.

Spearman looks forward to bringing this skill set to We Florida Financial to truly enhance the member relations in every aspect possible.

Every We Florida Financial branch will be accepting donations for the cause. Anyone in the local community will be able to go into a branch and honor the life of a fighter by adding a heart to their support wall. In addition to the support wall, We Florida Financial has already received over $850 in employee donations. All donations will benefit the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF), the #1 rated breast cancer organization in Florida.

According to the American Cancer Society, they estimate 148,010 new breast cancer cases in 2021 just in the state of Florida alone. Additionally, female breast cancer ranks first on the Florida list for new cases out of all other cancer types, including prostate, lung and melanoma cancers to name a few.

We Florida Financial To Donate $10,000 To GMAA-Bachelor Aviation Scholarship Fund

Margate, Florida (June 17, 2021) We Florida Financial has partnered with the Greater Miami Aviation Association to help provide scholarships to qualified aviation students pursuing a career in the South Florida Aviation industry. With every eligible aircraft loan financed through We fly, a $500 donation will go directly to the GMAA-Bachelor Aviation Scholarship Fund. Donations will continue up until December 31st, 2021 and cap at $10,000. Scholarships are selected in August and announced in October.

We Florida Financial Launches Heroes Loan For Those Who Serve and Protect

Margate, Florida (May 26, 2021) We Florida Financial has launched a Heroes Loan to provide those who serve and protect, both active and veteran, up to .50% off their consumer loan rate. The goal of this loan is to show support for local heroes, as they have supported their community time and time again.
