Formerly known as an education individual retirement account, Coverdell Educational Savings is a tax-advantaged investment account in the United States designed to encourage savings to cover future education expenses (elementary, secondary, or college) such as tuition, books, uniform, etc.
A Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA) is an account created as an incentive to help parents and students save for education expenses. Contributions to a Coverdell ESA may not be deductible, but your savings grow tax-free until distributed.
