Make time for financial education in your life

Yes, you can fit financial education into your day.

Have you seen the commercial where the couple runs out to sweep the gutters, wash the dog and do everything possible to avoid a financial discussion? Looks familiar? It does to me. I, like many other adults, am guilty as charged. It’s just not pleasant to look at a spreadsheet. Let’s face it. It’s not cool. It’s not sexy.

Fortunately, your Credit Union can help. No, we can’t send Brad Pitt to work with you. But we can make it easier by providing in one place, all the information you need to get started managing your money. We give you all the tools you need. We can even make it fun. We won’t charge and best of all, we don’t judge.

We Florida Financial has teamed up with a nationally known financial education and financial wellness organization called Consolidated Credit, with headquarters and employees right here in Broward County. They have a special consumer friendly arm known as KOFE (not the beverage – Knowledge of Financial Education) to give members free access to unlimited tools and resources like:

  • Financial articles
  • Educational videos
  • Webinars
  • Interactive courses
  • Financial coaching

There’s something for everyone and for all ages. So don’t put it off. You know you should do it. Start really small. Some people start to get active by just putting on sneakers, walking to the door and back. After a few days, they venture out the door for a few minutes, and then slowly walk further away from the house. It’s not as crazy as it sounds. It’s all about building up a habit. Give it a try when no one is watching. Start with two minutes of a video or three minutes reading an article. Then work your way up. Try an interactive course. Take a quiz.

After a while, financial education and planning will be a simple routine. It may even be fun! Then you won’t have to bathe the dog for the third day in a row. Visit KOFE from the Credit Union’s website or call 866-243-1904.
